what sets this board apart from all the other ones...mainly fishinghotpage.com? I never see any of the crap that i see on the other sites such as trash talking and harsh words. DO those posts just get erased, or are we all just here for fishing?....i think its really great that we dont have anything negative on this board it really helps when you are trying to get information. What ever you are doing Swimbait keep it up cause this site is one of the best around.....thanks!!!...

Hey there Grom85,

Ya, I haven't been on the boards long but I've noticed each board has it's on personality. I'm an old f%$t and I don't get bent on some of the cloaked no no words but I do think it's strange someone would intentionally misspell words as if they didn't care how it appears, use cryptic (to me) phrases, constant references to big dog badd dogg dadog U4dog, etc. It's a generation thing I guess. The posts of the guys using this stuff seem to be good guys and they stay on topic as often as most others do.

What really gets me is that some guys and their buddies figure the message board is the same as a chat room. That's OK until you see a thread or string of posts with 15 posts and there are less than FIVE words in each post. FROM.... two or three guys.

I enjoy checking the boards and contributing.

Good feedback. I totally hear you on the chat room thing. Sometimes it can get annoying, but what can ya do? Don't read it I guess. I don't mind if a couple guys are just talkin back and forth for a few posts or whatever, but when it gets to the point of "what are you doing this weekend" and that kind of stuff, it should definitely be left to email.

One last thing to add in regards to each board being unique is that the bass n tubes board is basically the official board of bass n tubes, so everybody in the club is gonna check it out and shoot the $hit and that's cool. That's what it's there for. It kind of serves a double purpose as being a place for kickboat/float tube info as well as a meeting place for the club members. Just an FYI for ya.

Rob spends his life on the internet and just views the message board and constantly refreshes, therefore he is able to read every single post that is posted and immediately deletes inappropraite ones :-) Rob and I both have the power to delete posts, I usually leave it to rob unless he's out of town or I happen to stumble onto something completely out of line. There's not too big of a problem on this site simply because of the fact that it won't be tolerated. If something is out of line, it gets deleted, plain and simple. Sometimes an argument is left to stand if there's relevant info or it's under control or whatever, but if there's anything inappropriate it'll get the can.

Your right Grom85 that fishinghotpage site is out of control. Theres so much trashtalking thats going on there. I got a good laugh at reading all the old threads on all the arguements they would have on there. Im glad its not like that here. Good fishing to all, and Rob and Brian you guys are doing a great job.

This site truly holds one of the best boards around.Whatever the reasons, other sites should contact Rob and take notes.I think registration is a must now a days, and seems to keep off alot of the trash posts.

It's really hard to get everyone to agree on certain subjects so it's nice to see that people can express their different opinions but still keep it within reason. Thanks to all the mature members of this site also!!

Happy Hawg Hunting!!

What I enjoy most about this board is... there are no greedy agendas by the owner(s). No one is here to make a fast buck. Most boards are created to compliment a business web site or service (i.e.: fishing charters, web based sales, etc.). It seems to me, this boards intent is pure. It's all about the fishig and exchange of information. If I remember correctly, Rob and "Jamon" started this board using their school resources and free web space for one purpose... to share their experiences and knowledge for others to read and talk about. There was nothing in it for them except satisfaction and pride. There was no profit involved, and it appears that still holds true. And of course, we can't forget to mention there are no advertisement banners or pup-up adds to annoy you. It is just a beautifully ran site with very good moderation and great participation by the young, old, experienced, and newbie. This is how it should be and I hope it will always remain this way!

Thank you Rob and all others who maintain, moderate, and participate on this site.

Terry G.

Well I certainly do appreciate all the comments.

Brian I do moderate the forum closely, and that is a lot of time and energy, but since registration has been required, I would say that nuisance posts have gone down by 90%. It becomes pretty self policed when you have to put your name down and take the time to register before you post. In the same regard, I think that the change in atmosphere brought on by requiring registration has encouraged a lot of people to post that might not have otherwise. So that part is really a good thing.

As far as advertising goes, I certainly hope that it can always be that way. It does cost me money out of my own pocket to run this thing, but it's worth it. I can't promise 100% that there will never be ads ( I mean hey I work in the tech industry and layoffs happen ) but I'll do what I can. It certainly is nice not to have to answer to anyone for the site in terms of advertising. I do what I want with the site, and if I forget to update the main page for 2 months, then that's that and no one is on my case :)

People here are generally more mature, friendlier and can you believe this...actually go fishing! This board and others such as All Coast either require registration and/or police the posts while others don't. It's amazing how silly some boards have gotten--cryptic or crude immature arguments over planted trout, etc. sheesh. Kudos to the fisherfolk here!

I found this board because of all the thrash talk on hotpage that actually shut it down. Even though I had some difficulty registering(probably due to Norton System works) Rob helped me to manually register. :-)

This board and your other boards, Rob, are a far step above the other 'so-called fishing boards. Sounds like everyone likes what you're doing here. You know what we think of the Float Tube Forum. Great Job!!

Running my own website and forum has shown me how much work they can be, and Rob certainly stays on top of things.

I have seen all of the negative stuff on some of those other sites, and I am always left wondering, "Doesn't anybody monitor those forums" ???

Anyway, between working 25 hours a week, fishing 30 hours a week (yearly average) and spending a ton of time on my own web-site, I don't have a lot of time to spend on other forums..... therefor I have to be picky about the ones that I do visit..... Which is why Calfishing is near the top of my favorites list ! (right below my own :-) LOL sorry Rob.

Keep up the great site and forum !
Peace,
Fish www.trophybassonly.com
