#10338, "Diamond Valley is opening on September 26th"

In today's Riverside Press-Enterprise there is a story on the Diamond Valley opener. It is officially set for September 26th. 5$ per vehicle, $4 per boat, and $3 for fishing reservation. They will have 40 "bass-fishing" boats for $85 per 1/2 day and 10 pontoons at $100 per 1/2 day.

85 bucks for a half day??? Damn, does that come with free lube and a reach around. You guys let me know when it becomes the next El Salto, then I will take out the second on my house required to buy the new "acceptable" motor for my boat and then wait in line. Recall Gray Davis!

If Gray Davis is recalled, will the folks at Diamond Valley suddenly decide to let all engines on the lake and lower the prices on rental boats? Just wondering...

NoTrollMotor can correct me if I am wrong, but I think he is saying that these are the rental boat prices. Not the prices to launch your own boat.

The best thing Diamond Valley Managment could do is make an official website where the post the real regulations, fees, information etc so that the internet rumor mill can stop.

Terry, I most certainly think they wouldn't change the rules, but he has alot to do with the acceptance of these new regulations. Forgive me, but I am still bitter about the whole thing. By the way, I just got off the phone with my old roommate, he's the Western Sale Manager for Field and Stream and Outdoor Life magazines and he got invited to fish DV with the Shimano guys next week. He was told a group of guys caught 200-plus fish in one day just recently, so he's all jazzed about it. I guess I would be too. Makes the sting a little sharper though knowing that if I don't spend 14,000 dollars to replace my perfectly good motor, I'm assed out. Oh the joys of political fishing.

You're right Swim.

I just recently shelled out for one of the "acceptable" motors. I didn't have a choice really, cuz I bought a new boat and you can only buy CARB approved motors in CA after 1/1/03. If anybody is considering upgrading, the Merc 115 4-stoke (made by Yamaha) is a super sweet motor. It is quiet, fast, clean, reliable, really stingy on 87 octane, and I don't have to buy the damn oil. Starts on the first rev every time. Sure is heavy though (400 lbs.)

By the way, the article also mentioned that they are stepping up when they plan on allowing shore-fishing due to public outcry. Doesn't sound like the MWD to me.

What about troll motor only for non-compliant outboard powered boats?
Maybe gasoline power for launching and retrieving. I mean come on MWD I'm feeling like Anna Sorenstram trying to play at Augusta. What about some kind of ratio, like affirmative action you know 1 non compliant boat for every 10 compliant. We will just wait in line, and when 10 compliants get in then 1 non compliant with a limit of 30 non compliants per day. Are you with me on this.......Hello.....Hello....

I heard all motors compliant through 2007 can fish DV. That means all 4-stroke motors AND Optimax/Yamaha HPDI-VMAX/and Evinrude w-FICHT 2-strokes.(Who wouldn't want a Triton TR-22 with the new Honda 225 HP 4-Stroke???) The lotto is every Wednesday and Saturday!

If they repeal the AQMD law, I wouldn't be surprised if the CARB standards didn't loosen up a bit as well. Here's another way to look at it; At least you won't get pounded by wave-runner creeps who need a 5/0 owner treble earing every time they come within a 50ft radius of you.

It's funny that Riverside County is fighting for clean air when they have all that white trash!!!

I'm just kidding...that was not intended for any cal-fishing member's who reside in the 909.....just everyone else!!!

Late!
