As far as telling about what we are doing lets put it like this. I'm not out there for fame and glory. If I wanted fame and glory I'd post all my catches and frankly this year I have been slaughtering the fish. I could do magazine articles, interviews etc, but I have not because I enjoy catching the bass a whole lot more than I like seeing my picture in a magazine. When its a tournament, you can't hide what you catch though, you have to weigh them in :)
After the last three tournaments I haven't come on the site to brag the fish or tell the story because that's not why I'm in the tournament. I'm in the tournament for the money. Tournament fishing to me is just legalized gambling and since I have some good cards in my hand, I've been betting. If I didn't think I could win money, I'd be trophy hunting not tournament fishing and I'd be just as happy doing it.
So, when you do well in a tourney, sometimes people congratulate you online and I sincerely appreciate that :) I congratulate people online myself on a regular basis. But part of soceity says that if you are congratulated, you should say thankyou. And in fishing, people expect a story to go with it. The thing is, I'm not going to tell the whole story about our tourneys at Pedro. No one handed me Don Pedro on a plate and said here you go. I have fished the lake 9 times in my life and 8 of those trips were this year. I got the name of one arm of the lake to check out from CV, and the rest I figured out myself. A few weeks ago I got some help from some local guys but none of my big fish have come from their spots and none of these tournaments has been won from their spots. I figured this lake out myself and I'm not goint to hand it out for someone else to take my entry fee from me on it. If you ever win 3 tournaments in a row and weigh a 30+ bag on your own water and your own techniques, I think you'll relate strongly to how I feel.
If this comes across mean, I apologize. I just feel like I've earned what I've done at Pedro and I'm going to enjoy the paybacks of 1800 miles of driving and $500+ in expenses that I've put in this year there.
-Rob

I appreciate your honesty Rob and I agree with your explanation. I am still so new to swimbaits that I need all the 'help' I can get but it's hard work and the willingness to try a technique/method(swimbaits) that can yield strikes so far apart(if ever;) ) for a Basser like you. I have to keep on trying and learning and be willing to put in the time and effort or I never will be sucessful.
Btw Matt; did you get my email?
