Patrick you sure have me confused sometimes dude. Didn't you just post and say how you loaded the boat with the 7" ac minnow the other day? And people were asking you about where you were fishing and all you said was South Carolina. Is it too much of a secret to tell the lake you were fishing? I doubt all us California guys are going to rush off to the East Coast to poach your water. No comprendo over here.

sorry bout that. i was kind of in a rush to get off when i replied. the lke i was fishing was keowee in oconee county. i was just thinking that none of you guys knew where that was. as for the ac minnow, i have the 9"er. i got confused talkin bout the 7" slammer and stuff. ill tell u what, e-bay has some idiots! i got that 9" minnow for 12 bucks! the guy said and i quote "i am a bass fisherman, and i got this lure as a gift. its just too big! does anyone know who allan coe is? his name is on it." or something to that extent. and he calls himself a fisherman. oh well im sorry for any misunderstanding. so anyways, what do u think bout that 5"er? im thinkin yes.
do any of you know of any other lakes in SC? we have Russell, Hartwell, Keowee(whick is clear, by the way), greenwood, Wylee, Bowen, monticello, and murray, which i think you guys have too!

Patrick e-mail me at Troutracker@aol.com, I will send you an attachment that has all the sizes of the AC Minnow and the AC Plug lined up so you can compare. Let me tell you, the seven inch AC's are big, but there is not mch difference between the nine inch. The seven inch and nine inch difference is huge though.

It's mainly a topwater thing, it doesnt sink, very little versatility. My opinion? Not cost effective

I just got back from fishing a small Orange County pond that has proved very tough in the past (Amish Ed, the ponds!), decided to switch it up and toss the 7" AC plug to see if I could make something happen, ended up with two fish (actually very good count at this place, lol!) with a nice 4 pounder finishing the night. The first fish was only a pound, but managed to whack it hard enough to get both treble hooks in each corner of his jaw, he wanted to swallow it! Don't be afraid to throw these things, even small bass will whack them. It's a good size meal that takes very little effort for a bass getting ready for winter to eat. My buddy got skunked on plastics, par for the course on this bathtub. Throw them in good water and you will be stoked.

Those aren't the SJ ponds are they? har. AmishEd took me to that place when I was down there. It was tough. That's cool you got the wood fish though.

Yeah, Brian, the world renowned San Juan ponds- they are the closest bass water to my house, otherwise I wouldn't even bother!

lol. Ed got that one big one out of there. Too bad they killed it off or whatever. How about that Discovery Lake down south of there? Ed caught a catfish on a spook when we fished it... I guess he got some bass a couple days later. I could picture some big dawgs in there if there's a healthy population.

Hey guys, glad I haven't been forgotten, I'm a little busy lately (did fish Havasu this week though). A 4# bass in SJ is sweet now days. I've had all my big LM's out of there (biggest was 10-12#). Until they started killing the weeds. I don't know if that killed the fish (never saw any floaters), but since late April I haven't pulled better than maybe a couple 3's from there. And never any numbers, and all winter I'd have 5 fish nights regularly. I just hope they just went into hiding.

Lately I've been hitting Discovery on the rare occasion that I find some spare time. Best from there was about 5#. But, the usual pattern has been a 3, a couple 1.5 - 2's, finishing with a couple dinks. I hit that place four different nights over a month, always starting at sunset and fishing under 2 hours. All four nights I swear I caught the same 6 or 7 fish in the same order. Usually all my fish there are on Senkos, but a few fall to the puppy too.

My question, when throwing the trout baits, what role does water depth play? Discovery is pretty shallow, but I want to try something new there. I have a 7" or 9" Basstrix I was saving for the sand bass spawn I never fished. Should I throw this into deeper areas, or stick to the shallow areas I fish now?

Just throw the plug on cover that looks good. Run it by bushes and tullies and stuff. I'd keep it under 15ft. water depth. Email me your address, I'll make you a plug and send it down. It'd be cool to hear how it does. I've got an unpainted one right now with your name on it. As for the spotties, I think another trip may be in order. See what you can get lined up. Ya know, you can always come up here... The one mile's on the chew right now for the calicos and sandies on plastic. My boat is all but fixed, so it should be ready hopefully by next weekend.

Sorry Patrick, right now I'm not selling the plugs. I pretty much copied other existing plugs, and I don't think it would be fair (or legal?) to start selling em without first checking with the various manufacturers.
