I finally caught my first Largemouth. Got about a 1.5# on a junebug Robo Zipper. It was on the second cast at this little pond in a condo complex in San Juan. But, this was the only one for 3 hrs of cold arse fishing. I didn't even start until 10:30pm. Going back tonight though and try for more. I did see what was probably a 4-5# model chasing something, but I was two far away and it was going the wrong direction. Supposed to be a couple 10's and at least 1 8#. We'll see if I can learn to catch these finicky nonagressive fish.

At least the stripe is off my back.

Just more tackle to buy.......

More tackle? No kidding. I bought an old Phoenix ( Don Ivino?) from my work. I bought a crap load of new rubber too. I just got in from fishing those same ponds, plus another so-called lake. I got a few bites at last nights spot, but that was it. Once the rain stopped so did the bites. Due to my new rod, I now understand the "tick" bites. Never would have felt them on my 7'6". But, fishing a short rod takes some getting used to. Lost a $9 spinner bait to a tree, that sucked. At the so-called lake I met another guy who said he usually gets 5 or 6 bass on Rattletraps. Neither of us even had a bite. Can't wait for spring.

Nice work bro. I must warn you though, the more you fish for bass, the more you want to keep fishing for bass. It's not so much the fight that keeps you coming back, it's the mental game of figuring out how to catch em in different situations. Nice change of pace from the saltwater though.
