Remember about 2 weeks ago when there was a post about 3 spots being available on the Island Tak. Fortunately I was the first to snap up those spots and I am sure glad I did. I had fished with Steve and John several times before and we had been on some awsome bites, but I never expected this kind of action.

We started the morning making squid on the backside of Anacapa and after putting a good amount of "candy" in the well, we made our way up the island for our first stop. We had some action right off the bat with a good halibut that I would guess went about 20 lbs. Then the yellows turned on.

My friend John scored first for my group of three guys with a nice yellow.

It was his first yellow ever and he was stoked.

We had a pretty steady pick on quality yellows all day. We only moved a time or two.

At one point we had 4 rods going at once which was pretty hectic.

The only other fish caught were a 100lb+ black seabass, a barrie and 1 calico.

Everyone on the boat had a great day with three people having 4 fish each.

I had 3 fish going 21, 24 and 27. My 27 ended up being the big fish of the day!

All in all over 30 yellows hit the deck between 18 and 27lbs. A big thanks to the Glendale Sportsman's Club and especially charter master Warren and "Calico bass" Brian for letting us hitch a ride. And a big thanks to Steve and John of the Island Tak for putting us on such good fish.

I had posted on the message announcing those spots became available to let everyone know that John Kelly was a great skipper and the Island Tak is always in the fish. My only regret was that I was unavailable to jump on one of those spots myself. Well it looks like the charter proved my last post right and I'm glad to hear it. I'm still wishing I was on that trip but there will be many trips to come. Congradulations. It looks like you guys got in to some nice fish. Definitely a nice recap to that first post. I'll see you guys on the water.
