Aliso Beach Parking lot north to the cove before the big rock, from 1pm till 2pm on Friday.

Waded out and bagged me the elusive Barred Surf Perch. Three of them for that matter. Got em tossing a 1.5" rootbeer/flake grub on a nice owner grub/drop shot hook behind a bullet weight rigged carolina style with a split shot. Soaked in anchovy smelly jelly.

What a pretty beach Aliso is, not many people, park right by the sand and budda-bing! I'm gonna launch my kayak and float tube here when the swell is down, killer beach-break, but then deep and rocky...

Anyway you will seldom find a guy happier to catch a 7" perch, and the second one even pulled a bit of drag. I was using my trusty 7' shimano ultra-ultra light trout jig rod and two pound test line.

These were my first ever perch in the surf. Waaaay fun.
