#3604, "Fishing Goleta Beach"

Hey all of you calfishermen that wrote me back, I just wanted to say that I don't keep under sized halibut or more than my limit on halibut. That was someone that put words in my mouth. I just wanted to know if anyone wanted to go fishing at Goleta beach on saturday. I am 17 years old and a junior at DP and I have been fishing at goleta beach since 1989, and for halibut since 1996 so I know how to fish for halibut, but maybe not as good as you guy's although i never fished with you guys. so come out to goleta and fish. MAYBE YOU GUY'S WILL MAKE A NEW FISHING PARTNER.

Fished this morning from 8:30 - 11:30. Conditions looked good, water temp 60 degrees. Only squeaked out two short halibut. One on a 4 inch Fishtrap and one on a Fastrac. Nothing in shallow both fish were in taken in 8 ft. of water.

Ruben I apologize if I insulted you. I was just having fun adding gas to the fire of the smackfest between "Harbor King", "Harbor Rat", and whomever else wanted to join in stirring the pot. You seem like a stand up guy from your posts as I'm sure the others are. I wish I lived in your area so we could make peace while hooking up on some Halibut.

Tight lines,
Wade

Harbor King, I live up near San Jose so it can be kind of hard to find the time to make a trip down there, not to mention the funds. Between 2 small children and a wife that works most weekends so I have to watch the kids, it can be hard to find enough time for a serious fishing trip. I'd love to go down there and show you how a real man gets his Hali's on Lures, but it might not happen for a while. How can I get ahold of you when I finally can make it happen? Besides posting here I mean.

Tight lines,
Wade

Ruben, I told a friendly tuber about this site a couple of Sunday's ago off the creek mouth at Goleta. He was fishing smelt from a Plano bucket and doing better than we were with dead anchovies. I was on a mango colored yak and my buddy (Bucky)was on a white one. Was that you?

Either way, welcome to the site, and see you at Goleta.

Fuzzy

"real man gets his Hali's on Lures"

Right on Wade! Don't get me wrong I have nothing against bait fishing but let's face it if you're going to rant and rave about how good you are you need to prove it with artificials. That's why bait is not allowed in many tournaments. It makes it more a game of skill than luck. Anyone can drag bait around.

Hey leapin bass this is halibut king I just wanted to tell you I use one rod for live bait and my other rod for casting plastics like hammers and fish traps. Thats all I used intll I found a way to keep my bait alive out there. I always ripped the halibut of the bottom with plastic. At one time they called me the plastic master. so I know how to use plastic.

I KNOW THAT I AM THE HALIBUT KING ON LIVE BAIT AND I ALSO KNOW THAT I AM REALLY GOOD AT WORKING THE PLASTIC AT ANY TIME OF THE DAY AND YEAR. MAYBE NOT AS GOOD AS SOME PEOPLE BUT BETTER THAN MOST PEOPLE.
