#5300, "A suggestion is needed"

My family and I will be visiting Santa Barbara from Michigan 3/29 to 4/7. I would like to take my kids on a charter. Can anyone suggest a good one?

Also I would like to take a trip alone to catch some BIG fish. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I would really recommend going on a 1/2 day trip on the Stardust out of Sea Landing. You can get all the info you need at the website:

It's a great boat for kids to have a good time, catch some fish, and not get too bored because the trip is too long.

Thanks for the reply. I have seen this charter but being from Michigan I wasn't sure how good they would be. The fishing on these charters is only as good as the Captain (at least here). And I guess the fish have to cooperate too.

Thanks Again,
Jeff

You are absolutely correct about that. I think if you could ask just about anyone who has fished on the Stardust with captain Jason Diamond, they would have great things to say about it. Jason is the kind of skipper who always makes the most of the conditions and keeps an upbeat mood regardless of the fishing. Nobody can guarantee the fishing, but even if the fishing is a little tough, I'm sure you will have a good time. Best of luck if you decide to go.

Jason is truely a great personable guy with knowledge and carisma to spare. It sounds like you guys might see our whales as this is full season for the migration and that surely will keep the kids enthralled. Plenty to see with an ocasional catching of fish...If you where thinking of going it alone for your big one you might think about going out of Cisco's in Oxnard for a trip over to the Channel Islands as the White sea bass bite is sure to be heating up by then. Not knowing how young the kids are it's a safer bet to stay with Jason because you won't be going to sea "as it were" just puttering about in our front yard and if the seas come up he can ski-daddle post haste. If the kids are queezy with rough water Santa Barbara is your best bet as we are sheltered by the islands some 27 miles out and don't get the "BUMP" they get out there. Hope you have a blast and our zoo isn't half bad for child entertainment either...Kelly
