Just wanted to thank you guys for putting on the big bass contest. I chose a 9" slammer as my prize, because my wife would kill me if I spent another $30 bucks on a lure. But I was looking at the one I was sent from bassworld, and it seems quite a bit smaller than my other one. And the rear hook was smaller than the front as well. Is this difference in size because they are handmade? And I was also wondering what the numbers mean that mike writes on the inside of the bait? Is that the weiight, because one says 2.02 and the other is 1.4. Thanks again, Jerry

Jerry,
Mike personally makes every single MS Slammer from scratch. Depending on the wood and a number of other factors the plugs can vary in size and weight. I have some 9" plugs that are around 8.5" and some that are more like 9.5". He has actually considered calling the plugs small, medium, and large for exactly this reason, but then you get people going .. how long are they. Or another favorite question ... how much do they weigh? The answers to those questions are not exact because each plug is unique.
The numbers on the back are the dates when the plug was made. usually it's month and year, like 2.02 would be February 2002.
The smaller hook in the back is how Mike rigs them and fishes them himself. The weights of the hooks affect the balance of the bait and he likes a lighter hook in back.

Do you put the 2-0 gammies on front and back? I don't have much experience with these so I don't know how the'll float. Tha slammer I bought from Coyote bait had 2-0 hooks on each end.

That could be, maybe Mike will post and answer that one. We were both getting sick of everyone asking all the time how much they weighed so maybe he started to put the weight on there instead of the date :-)
