I'm planning a trip for Isabella the first weekend of November to Isabella. Anyone been out there recently or at all this time of year. I hear the wind blows. Shoots I love wind and rain.

Anyway, I'm planning on spending some quality time throwing the big wood and such for some bigger fish. Also, maybe throwing the jig and plastics out deeper too!

I've never been there, and just ordered a map.

Matt,
I know some guys from Bakersfield who get some hogs out of there. From what I understand they do three main things. Darterheading with 6" worms, jigs ( I think black/red but I can't remember ), and trouts. Apparently the stocker trout is the local favorite. I have also heard that the way the lake fishes, the bigger fish school in certain areas of the lake, so if you get one, hang out and see if you can get some more.

I live in Bakersfield , and have fished the lake on and off for years. The lake is pretty low now,the lack of snow and rain have had it's affect. The locals certainly do their share of catching some nice largemouth bass.Watch the wind ! The wind can be deadly here at times. If it comes up and the waves pick up , head for shore NOW !At times the lake is as flat as a pond .Do not let that trick you , when it really blows , few boats can handle the wind and waves. Many guys have drowned here over the years. The wind is probably why the fishing stays good , year after year , because it limits the over use.The lake is very large , even during this drought situation.Check with the local shops for what is happening at the time you decide to fish.Scott Shaw
