#3710, "Big Bait Reviews"

Well, I've been workin away some more on the reviews and although I have a ways to go on the reviews themselves, most of the photo work is done. I put a little red asterisk next to the ones that are complete. Take a minute to browse through and check it out. There's a few on there that you might not have seen before.

Hey Rob I think you got a few to many baits, you should kick a few down to me, for 'field testing' purposes only of course :P

On a serious note, that's a good job you are doing on the swimbait reviews, definately making this site the premier site for swimbaits on the internet...

Great job on those reviews, Rob!

Probably makes your site the definitive "one stop shop" to find out all about the Big Baits!

Keep up the good work.

All the best,
Jacques

Check out this link for another trout-type Swimbait you may want to add to your almost exhaustive list: http://www.huddlestondeluxe.com

Yes, there are a few more that need to be added :) I'm going to cook up a bluegill section and probably a rat and a shad section. The Huddleston I would like to have, but it's $85 for the big one so I'm still working on it. The FUNA, I need to talk to Scott and get one. It will definitely be an expanding section.

Anyone know where to get the new Ospreys, I noticed they were on the tackle warehouse website but now they are not there. I know Bass World West has the slow roller but what about the FBT. Thanks

Bass World West should have the FBT's and just about every Osprey out there. Just give them a call if it isn't on the site. TW also has the FBT's. I have not seen them on there previously, so I guess they just got them in:

http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/descpageSWMOSPREY-OSFBT.html

I have not had a chance to throw the FBT yet but it looks alright. I noticed on the 7" regular osprey that I got for the review page that it seems a bit skinnier than the old ones. The quality on the baits also looks really good as far as the pours/colors go.

Castaic Trout and Get's Jack Knife review are done. The goal is to do at least one per day until they are done. Then, we're going to go into rods/reels/bass/bluegills/shads. I just got one of the Diawa Heartland 7'9" rods to demo and my initial impression is damnnnn, how do they sell this for 60 bucks. Field testing to follow.

Your right about that rod, the sucker is awesome! Never knew it could be this easy to chuck big baits until I got one of those rods.
Love it! cv

At this point the biggest bait I've thrown on this rod is a 9" Osprey, which is a heavy bait as you probably know. I can cast it a mile and hooking and fighting fish back to the boat was a breeze, nice backbone about mid way up as it pretty much stopped there. cv

I also have the Heartland 7'9" rod and like it a lot, used it off my 'yak in fresh and salt. Has been durable so far too. For those of you considering this rod, however, I would offer one advise. Go to the shop and pick one out for yourself instead of getting it online, because I have seen a few individual rods of this model with crooked guide alignment. I think this is a good general rule for buying any fishing rod, unless you just have to that particular one that is only available online. Also, I believe that one of the reasons this rod is $60 is simple. Cheap overseas labor!!

you are most likely right fishead. but it kinda makes you wonder how much mad profit diawa makes on the reels! some of the reels are extremely expensive. as for the crooked guides, i musta been a lucky one because my rod is bout perfect. i got it from tackle warehouse and it is probably because TW wont accept anything with defects maybe. i dunno i wish i could go to the stores however, but i am cross country from TW! o well, ill be out there one day...yea....dream on buddy...
