Stocker Trout - Very versatile bait that you can fish deep as well as shallow. The new 10 inch versions hit the market about 2 months ago. Great baits that have caught lots of big ones.

How deep do these stocker trout run? Have you used the 10in. version much? how are the results? Do you prefer the 10 inch or the smaller version? Sean

All of the Stocker Trout's have an internal lead design so they will sink as deep as you want them to sink. I have been using the 10 inch version in it's prototype stages over the years and personally have caught about 20 or so over 10 pounds on the 10 inch version. Rod and Todd Thigpin who make the baits have caught well over 100 bass over 10 pounds on that version too. I prefer the 10 inch over the 9 inch because it has a much slower tail wag and fishes better when you slow roll it deep. I have caught many bass over 10 pounds on the 9 incher too because that was the biggest one available for many years but if I had to choose one, it would be the 10 inch version.

Thanks for the input. For depth do you just allow it to sink longer? What do these sell for? Sean

How are you rigging a stinger on the bait, placement, hook brand and hook size? Thanks!

Rago Rat and Huddleston deluxe. Stocker trout would be third.

I like whatever works for catching 10 pounders lol
Here's what has worked for me for fish over 10lbs

Big Hammer - 7 fish
MS Slammer - 4 fish
Castaic Hardbait - 2 fish
Generic Trout (original) - 1 fish
Generic Live Trout Softbait - 1 fish
Stocker Trout - 1 fish

Dang ... getting 10 pounders on swimbaits isn't that easy come to think of it! Kind of disillusioning to look and see that if I discount that 6 of the Big Hammer fish were bed fish I only have 10 fish over 10 on swimbaits. Probably averages out to about one per 10,000 casts. So if you aren't getting the 10lbers, maybe you just need to make 9000 more casts :)
