#5789, "another big heartattack, ie catfish"

Nico and I fished the Pablo opener last friday. Typical 1 foot vis. I was chucking a big crank and got mauled by something quite large. I really was fooled on this one, I thought I had a giant bass. After a short battle, it turned into the dreaded whisker fish. All 22.8lbs of him. I guess now I know about what the WRB would feel like lol :)

I drug the beast to the marina to weight it because every other year they've given away a free annual parking pass for the big fish of opening day. Of course this year, no pass x(. The guys seemed reluctant to even weigh the fish and didn't ask for my name or anything, it was kinda odd. In this weeks norcalfishing.com, they reported the fish and I got a new name!!! WOo hooOO

WHOPPERS:

On 2/11/05, Jason Wright of San Francisco caught a 22 lb.,12 oz. catfish in Scow Canyon using a worm.

Gee, you'd think they'd at least put I caught on power bait, roflmao.

How was the bass fishing you ask? Well we caught a few but nothing to get excited over. The fish had a lot of red marks and sores on the tails. They weren't too skinny or anything, but it's just a changed lake over there now. Lake is down 23.5 feet and will remain at that level all year until they close it for the dam retrofit.

hey rob, nice cat dude. Considering I target them all the time and all ! Can you make one of your baits in a Perch pattern or a walleye pattern. Something real basic, just orange belly and yellowish green sides and a black back. I need it for muskie fishing at Lake of the woods this June ; I got some narly follows and toilet bowl flushes on the rainbow trout one last year. They like s-l-o-w-l-y cranked on top, man is it epic !

muskyman - are you talking about the MS Slammer? I don't make the Slammer, I just do the website. Mike Shaw makes the baits and he can do custom colors, you just gotta give him a ring @ 435-586-0853. The regular Slammer color lineup is @
