Well how do I start... Rob's story of his two big fish persuaded my dad and I to hit up San Pablo. Well after bout an hour messing around in one spot about 8:30 we headed across from the launch ramp. On about the 5th cast in the area with my 9 inch Slammer...WHOOSH... fish on.... HOLY CRAP it's HUGE is all I could think. After a fairly short but nerve racking fight. The fish is lipped and lifted... quite a few pictures were takin.. Then the moment of truth... 17.3 pounds on our berkley digital scale... you have no idea how bad I was shaking. 17.3 pounds is A LOT of bass. There was the choice of hauling it the short distance to the marina to have it weighed there or releasing it on the spot. I chose to release it right there and spare the fish any more trauma. I'm gonna try and get the pictures developed tonight or tomorrow and post them. This fish was absolutely HUGE...

Praying these pictures come out

Right on dude! This may be the first time in history somebody heard about a good bite somewhere and then went to the lake and did better, instead of getting skunked! Congrats.

Oh my!! Makes me want to go home sick from work and hit a lake... any lake! Oh man... but I can't do that.

Is that a snap swivel at the end of your MS Slammer?

It's only a snap... actually it's the one that came attached with the lure. It seems heavy duty enough. I like to use snaps because I can switch between the Slammer and the Castaic if need be. Ahhh I gotta head to work! Rob, thanks for having this site that's allowing me to share my amazing catch with everyone. Later

I have a few more pictures but these seem to look the best to me. I'm not sure if you can tell but the roof of this fishes mouth is bright red... Any guesses as to why? Rob, by any chance it doesn't look like the one you lost on Saturday does it?? Email me and I'll discuss with you where she bit.

That's a crawdad eatin fish. Beautiful fish. Their mouths get all red like that when they've been chewin on crawdads. Sounds like they've really been keying in on the dads lately. I read in Bassmaster the other day that crawdads come out of hibernation when the water gets around 50 degrees. Makes me wonder if all of a sudden the crawdads are popping out of the mud and it's waking up the big girls a little bit.

Erik,
I sent you an email with some info on where I lost that one on Saturday. I can't tell for 100% certain but it looks like you very well might have got her from the same spot. The fish I lost had a small mouth relative to the size of the body a lot like that one. You realize that you're killing me over here :-) 17.3 is an incredible bass. Email me back when you have a chance.

I talked to Eric and he got her from a totally different spot than where I lost that one on Sat. I don't think the fish I lost was that big even :-)
