Um.... 80% of my swimbaited smallmouth came on either the Mattlures 6" Coho or the Mattlures 6" Light trout. Other than that I've picked a few up throwing a river2sea bottom walker (typically small fish) and then one here, one there, on other baits.

the 3 baits i would use would be ;
1. Mattlures smallmouth bass pattern
2. M.s. Slammer 7 inch any pattern works
3 Smaller 4 inch big hammers ,shad colors .
theres alot of baits out there ,and you will probably get a 1000 responses with different lures.I say expierement and find what works best for you and your fishing style.
Good Luck,
Brian

Dude, the baits everybody is suggesting will do fine. Smallies will definitely hit those style of swimbaits. I would say a 6-inch Platinum but a smallie would probably rip one right in half in the fight. You know, Arrowhead isn't the only lake with smallies down here. I know Pyramid is full of'em and some of them a better fish. But then again, that is a long drive. I know Piru has some too but hardly anything worth fishing for... more smallies would nice around here! Besides Pyramid, the only really decent smallies place I know of is Havasu, just chock full of 'em... but that's a 6-hour+ plus drive on a GOOD weekend!

Bass + Fisherman= BAASS ADDICTT!!!

No matter what swimbait or lure you decide on, just MAKE SURE your hooks are SHARP!!! and I mean SHARP! I put a file on ALL new hooks,even Gammis,even if it's just one stroke,to get them STOOOPID SHARP.If you don't say to yourself "Oh F*%# that's sharp!" then it's NOT sharp enough(for me...) I have caught LOTS of big smallies (4-6lbs) and a large percentage were hooked on the OUTSIDE of the head and/or under the jaw. They try to KILL it first!!! I would use anything 3-6 inches long in a perch or shad pattern or chartreuse Like OPTIMUMS,Castaics, MATT's,or A Hudd ROF 5 or 12(if you've have the cahones/wallet) for subsurface to deep water. For on top, a monster jack, hudd rof 0 (with a trap hook!!!)slammer, or anything you can get to make a commotion on the surface that'll trigger a reaction strike-and they WILL "reaction strike" from 20 ft of water! Best of luck ,and don't horse them or they WILL tear off, BUT don't fart around too long with'em either..... They LOVE to JUMP and give you major heart attacks!! Better have trap hooks on EVERYTHING!! Be sure to take pictures to share with us! May all the bass meet your thumb, ALEX

the smallmouth liked the big swimbaits and fought all the way, while the LM prefered the smaller size. first time on a float tube.............the atv of the lake. this was hooked on the outside of the mouth
thanks

I got some pics for the Slammer website the other day that included a huge bag of smallmouth. Dunno the details but these toads were caught on the Slammer by a gentleman named Victor Fong

I had the opportunity to talk with Victor for a little while this weekend. He's a STICK and I suspect we'll see more of him in the coming years.... don't forget that name. Oh, and those are AWESOME fish!

correction... I assumed that all of those fish were Slammer fish but got word that only one of them was. Sorry 'bout the confusion. MS asked me to take the pics off the site since not all the fish were on the Slammer. Either way, that was a hell of a pic if you got a chance to see it :)
