Yo Don - thanks man. This has been a great year on the top end fish for Nico and I, dunno why, things just keep lining up. 3 15's and a 16 this year for me. Every one is just as exciting as the last one! The rush of adrenaline is what it's all about.

This one was pretty lucky. I caught it last week, on calm hot condition. She popped up under my bait like a big grey blob and t-boned my bait. It all came in to view as the fish ate the bait. No fight at all, I just leaned on the fish and Nico scooped it. They get confused I think when the bait is crosswise in their mouth. My first over 10 on the Triple Trout and my first over 10 in So-Cal, pretty damn stoked.

That's a standard issue 10" Triple Trout. Caught the fish on a Rainshadow SW967, CTE 400, 25 Triple Fish Camo main line, 25 Triple Fish fluorocarbon leader, Owner Hyperwire split rings, 2/0 Owner stinger treble hooks.

Rather not say about the lake. Like in Monopoly, I'm 'just visiting' in So-Cal and when you get little tips from your friends on where to fish, it's best not to let the internet loose there :) Big bass tend to make people (myself included) get crazy and jump in the truck to go fishing.

Not only an awesome catch, but a beautiful photo as well. Its centered, lighting is perfect, and its held just the right distance from the angler, and the best part is the the fins are all sticking out. I love that. Awesome.

Im stoked for you Rob.

Thanks Steve for the kind words.

Don - I think this winter/spring you will get a really big one. You are doing too many things right not to get one. My prediction is for a 16+ :)

Thanks alvo69 and swim-bait.com.

I don't mean to sound cliche, but anyone in CA fishing the good lakes can catch these fish. It's so much about persistence and being stubborn with the the proper big bass techniques. Swimbait, jig, sight fish are the big 3 - always. Big worm and senko can be periphery techniques, and of course bait if you do bait.

Sometimes when you begin your journey toward catching a big one, you get a huge one right away. It happened to me, and it has happened to guys like Erik Patzner (carrot top) and Matt Allen (supermatt) too. Other times the 15+ fish take a few years to come.

At first you just think about getting bites on the big fish techniques. Then you think about getting the 10lbers. After a while you start to think about the teeners and up. Cliche again I know, but you do catch what you fish for.

Some people have it in them to go strictly big bass 100% and they have proximity to the real monster fish. Those are the guys who really get the numbers of giants. Mike Long and Butch Brown come to mind. The spark is there in me but I need a break sometimes. I didn't fish bass for 2 and a half months before last week. But little breaks are good too, to keep you wanting more :)

Don't know what to say other than congratulations. That is another truly incredible fish and on a triple trout no less... awesome! You've got the momentum, I'm looking forward to seeing what else you produce this year.
