#22035, "2004 personal goals revisited"

Back in december JC started a thread about personal goals for 2004 and now that were half way through the year, it would be interesting to see how were all doing in reaching our goals.

in case you missed it, here is the orginal post

http://www.calfishing.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=6&topic_id=17723&mesg_id=17723&listing_type=search

here is how i sit for the year so far

goal #1 win half the BNT traveler region events.
been a tough year for me, this will not happen

#2 place in the top 5 in every BNT T.R event.
So far I am on track to do this, only 2 events left.

#3 Take the BNT T.R AOY
currently in 2nd about 5lbs out of the lead, its going to be tough but possible

#4 Qualify for the BASS Fed. TOC.
couldnt afford to fish the whole season, I have no doubt if I would have been able to, i would have reached this goal

#5 Make the Open's the biggest and best kickboat event's ever!
I believe this goal has been met

who's next?

Well I never posted on this post but being an ex-football player I don't do much without writing down goals and how I will be able to achieve those goals and put the words in a very visible place so I see them everyday. I'll give you my goals and how I'm feeling about each one.

1.Place in the top 5 in BNT TOC
I still have to qualify

2.Top 3 in Delta Region
3.Top 5 in Travellers region
I would have been more on track if I had switched these two but they are still both a possibility.

4. Weigh in Big Fish
Contra Loma 6-2

5. Place top 10 in a bass boat tourney
I need to enter one to be able to place

6.Weigh in a 20lbs bag.
Keep working on my frog skills, pray, (steal Zaldains livewell off his boat next tourney)

7.Win a BNT event
Middle River 9lbs14oz. really didn't feel like a win since I struggled all day and just got a couple lucky bites on a tough day.

Some of the things I have written below my goals are the ways in which I will be able to attain these.
1. Fish as much as possible, Currently I have 66 check marks and most of those days have been on the river so I feel I am on track for my goal to get as much time on the water as possible.
2. Fish with as many good sticks as possible, everytime out with BNT I am doing this and it truly is helping me become a better angler being around guys that can catch fish.(Still waiting to go fish a day with you Lake-I'll pick up launch and gas)
3. Become more profiecient with topwater especially my trouble baits, Frogs, Spooks, poppers, I am getting a lot more comfortable with frogs and have finally started sticking some nice fish in the last few weeks. Spooks and poppers are still hard for me to get bites.

It has been a very productive year for me so far and I also had a special surprise in February for me when I had the opportunity to get a bass boat so it has been a great year of fishing for me. Hopefully it only gets better as the summer gets into full swing and we move into the fall.

What about that mutant spot from San Pablo? That had to be close to a lake record spot, if they keep track of those things.

Lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what have-yous

Yeah that's true I guess. I don't think the people at the marina at San Pablo even know the difference between a spot and a largemouth though lol. I honestly wasn't sure what kind of bass it was at the time so I just let it go.

Right off the bat I got the 1st goal with a 9.8 on a Jig since then I haven't been able to get any of the rest of my goals. I did come close on the Halibut with a 12#er and lost one that would go in the high teens when I tried to net it. I should just Gaff the next one, but I want to release any over 25# so they can spawn more big ones for the future.
I've started working on my little aluminum skiff and I might have it up and running before the end of summer. Then I can chase the Hali and T-shark goals more effectively.
I kept my log accurate up through the 48th trip but after that I know I have lost a trip report or 2. Now I think I'm approaching #100 if I'm not already past it and haven't made an entry for atleast 20 trips.
Tight lines,
Wade

Hey guys, I've been workng a lot, fishin' not as much as I'd like but at least I'm fishin' a bit this year. I'll have to find a better job if I want to fish tournaments.

1. Catch a double digit largemouth.
--- Hell yeah, I caught a 10 1/2 this year!

2. Catch a 5+ smallmouth.
--- Nope, not yet.

3. Win at least 2 tournaments in the BnT Travelers Region and make the ToC.
--- Nope, I'm done for the year... well maybe I'll fish the Invitational.

4. Fish more than I did last year. (that will be easy)
--- Yup, way more than last year.

5. Catch a striper from the surf in Pacifica
--- Haven't been out yet and probably won't be able to.

6. Catch a steelhead on a fly (that will be hard)
--- I didn't chase 'em in January or Febuary. Maybe this fall or early winter.

7. Catch an Albacore
--- Too broke. Ain't gonna happen.

8. Catch a legal sized sturgeon - or one too big to keep
--- I doubt I'll try this. Not a big priority.
