You might try Coyote Creek in Santa Clara. Details on where,
etc can be found on the Santa Clara County Park web site:

I haven't fished it (yet) and wouldn't eat anything from it
without checking with the rangers (some of the Santa Clara
waters are mercury-polluted). But if you're doing
catch-n-release, it doesn't matter.
Is Sacramento too far away for you? There are some rivers up
that way with allegedly good fishing (I haven't tried them
yet...too far for my lazy butt to drive).
There are plenty of lakes to fish in besides the Quarry if
you're tired of it (and can't find a decent stream). Del
Valle, Shadow Cliffs, Chabot, Los Vaqueros, Anderson, Calero,
Loch Lomond, Uvas, Coyote Lakeplenty of others (some are
pretty close to you - Grant Park, Levin Park).

Cool, thanks. Think I'll check it out.

It'd be nice to catch something (anything!). THEN I'll worry
about eating it or not.

Yeah, me too. Don't feel like dealing with the weekend traffic
on I-80.

Thanks for the recommendations. Definitely need to check out
some of these places.
