#525, "July 13, SB Harbor"

Ok, I'm not gonna lie, Brian #2 whooped on me tonight. I was expecting the bite to go off because I heard from this guy that they had dumped all the dead bait out of the receiver. Also, there was only 1 seal, and squid in the receiver (also lots outside the receiver). So, I was expecting it to go wide. Brian had the first hook up. A nice ronkie. Yes. From there he proceeded to dominate a lizard fish and then hooked up with a 28 inch seabass at 8:15. Not long after that he got a little sandbass and then a short seabass. About this time I got my one and only fish of the night, a barely legal seabass. Brian pulled one more short after that. I actually got my seabass on live squid that we had caught next to the bait barge. There was a lot of em and we were scoopin em up with our hands. The fish we didn't get on squid came on rainbow trout swimbaits. So, not a bad night for Brian, and I'm not complaining either. I leave tomorrow night to fish a pro/teen up at the delta, so I'll be gone till sunday. But, no doubt I'll be fishin the harbor by sunday night.
-Brian

Hey brian I saw you out there but did not want to yell across the harbor. Sounds like a pretty decent night. I got one at about 8:45 on the rainbow trout fish trap. It was short only 25". I think we are also going to give it a try on Sunday night from our small boat. We were wading in the water on the north side and around 8pm it got too cold.

I talked to that guy that said they just got done dumping a bunch of bait. He said that he got 9 WSB, no legals, at about 3-4pm.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-15-00 AT 10:30 AM (PST)

Tried the morning bite and ended up with no seabass. I did get 6 short halibut (2 were 21 inches). If that story about the 9 seabass between 3-4 pm is true they may be just going off at different times or the new popularity of the area is killing it.

You can't catch tomorrow what you kill today - please practice catch and release.
