Took the boat down the road to Bayou Lacombe. 15 minute drive. Winding river/bayou/marsh place that feeds in to Lake Pontchartrain.
Water was 76 to 80 degrees. 1 to 2 foot visibility. Fishing sucked, like every other bayou I've tried around here. I landed 6 bass, 2 goggle eyes, and 1 gar. A goggle eye may be a warmouth, or it may not be. Also one 6 foot alligator that ate my frog and thankfully got off at the side of the boat.
One bass was a 2lber. (giant!). The others were tiny. I took them all and stocked them in my pond except the gar. We're not in California any more. Fish were biting frog ( of course) and sweet beaver.
Here's a video, if for no other reason than to see what a Bayou looks like, and a gar.
