Went to Puddingstone early.....started out at about 6:00 AM on north shore (across from the Dam). Fish were jumping left and right probably various species but definitely saw a few large bass (big mouths were give away. Threw jigs, cranks, and soft plastics for about an hour with no bites or hook ups. Moved on to Sailboat cove and threw jigs and soft plastics again--nothing. Decided to see if I could get some trout action so thre a line out with powerbait and used the other rod to case some small spinners (kast masters, rooster tails, etc.) NOTHING. I saw one family pull in a small rainbow trout which was gut hooked (power bait on trebel hook I assume). That was the only fish I saw caught all morning (from 6-11). I mangaged to lose two crankbaits but near the end of the morning I met a guy named Mike from Ventura who had lost his wallet and was selling some tacklet to get gas money to go home. He gave me a Castatic Baby Bass, 3 spinner baits, 2 rapalas, a minnow (pins I think), some soft crawdads, and a jointed minnow for $16. I felt like I was ripping him off but he said that I was being very generous and kept giving me more. So that made up for no fish and losing a few lures of my own. Puddingstone looked really great despite the lack of action. Hope others had better luck than I!
