#10224, "West Beach Float Tube WSB" Sun Jul-06-03 12:08 PM by bowlboy
Got up eeaarrrrllllyy Sunday morning (4:30) for a run down to West Beach to see if I could get another WSB to come out and play. Launched a little after 5:00 and headed for the bait receiver. I was promptly greated by 2 resident dogs, snorting at me. Started throwing the 6 inch Big Hammer in raibow trout, same bait as last time, although it kind of took a beating before it was still kickin good. Made a bunch of casts up and down for nada. The bait dock guy shows up and promptly tells me that if there are any dogs around, that I might as well not fish here. So I shoot back a quick run down of last weeks WSB in the dark with about 6 pissed off dogs lurkin. He replies oh! thats pretty good. Just about that time I see a friend of mine in his skiff round the corner and head over for bait. As they are baiting up I said, that out board of yours is just ringing the dinner bell for all the WSB around here. I get back, yeah right from him. As they are pullin away from the dock I throw right into where they were just docked and WHAM! I'm on and my reel starts singing. Both the guys on the boat whip there heads around when they here my hoot and watch me battleing what turned out to be a 28 inch right on the nose legal. No decision to be made and it went right back in to fight another day. Worked the area good for no more bites and then tried for some flatties in the falling tide which produced one fish farmed on the crank and 2 missed bites on the 3 inch Hammer.
