#11897, "Coffee and Corbina report 4/17"

After a champion's breakfast of coffee and donuts, we started fishing around 615 AM. Mike Bell was there early and reported decent action while waiting for us. We had a break weather-wise as the rain stayed away. The surf was up a bit at Crescent Bay but manageable. There was a slow pick on the perch (mix of BSP and Walleyed) at first. The bite appeared to really pick up around 830 as the tide was nearing max high. Sandcrabs were plentiful and there seemed to be an equal ratio of perch caught on the crabs to perch on the Big Hammer grubs. Notable catches include Mesha Yoshida getting a corbina on a grub and Will Stephens catching his first barred perch ever (a nice 3/4# unit). Many perch of both types were bursting pregnant and all fish were released. The rain finally showed up at 9 AM and a couple of the guys kept on fishing. I had to leave for house chores, sigh...
