We just had a float tube tournament there and it was pretty good. We fished the kelp to the left of the parking lot and then kicked over to the kelp just to the left of the pier. The outside kelp seemed to produce better than the inside stuff. Fish plastics, particularly key lime, or something with green. For 4 guys, our tournament yielded two 4# calicos, one 5.5#er and a 6#er. A few boiling bass were seen, and a good amount of bait in the area. You might want to bring some small grubs or something, because toward the end of the day I started sight fishing the calicos with a zipper worm, just dropping it straight down the stringers and jigging it back up. It was almost like fishing for sandies on the pilings in the harbor... I must warn you though, the rockfish were chewing it pretty good, while the calicos would kind of stare at it, and pick at it once in awhile. I don't fish Haskell's much, but after that tournament I'm gonna have to fish it more... -Brian
PS: there's also halibut to be caught in that area. Try the inside kelp, and the surfline using either the key lime plastics, or the fastrac minnow.
