There were two occassions:As a kid, I used to read outdoor life and field and stream in my dad's dental office. he did his fatherly duty and took me fishing even though I don't think he was into it (although later he ended up going all the time even buying a custom saltwater rod). All I did was read about fishing, going both fresh and salt. I then stopped going all together by junior high (got into diving, surfing, etc.)

20 or so years later...
It was a vacation up to Morro Bay in 1991 that ignited the passion again. I took a rod to go on a SWRF run and the limit style fishing had me pumped again. Now I could afford all the tackle I needed and have been going full-on ever since. A 20 year hiatus, that's scary!
