My mom drove my little sister to Topanga for some surfing so I went with them. I did a little surf fishing, caught nothing so then I tried freediving even though there were some big swells and murky water. First dive down I land right on a halibut 6# or so, it spooks and scares me as well. I keep swimming towards the point and spook several more shorts before I get into an area with a bunch of nervous baitfish and I see a big flash of white. I was thinking WSB or a leopard shark but all the sudden I see a little Thresher pup about 15# and 4 ft. long. He was not timid at all and swam with me for about 5 minutes, comming within 1 foot of me! My dad has never seen one in 20 yrs of diving and I have talked to a couple of experienced freedivers who have never seen any either! I guess I'm pretty lucky. All fish were within 15 ft. of water, even the Thresher. I have seen huge ones finning the surface last year but that was nothing compared to actually swimming with one. So in my first two weeks of vacation I have fished 6 times, been in some decent bites and swam with a Thresher, I hate summer :) Tommy
