Got a late start, why hurry--sun's not up until 7 am. Out of the harbor at 730 am. Dana Pipe is dead--nothing after a 1/2 hour there. Headed north to some shallower reefs and boilers. Picked 4 calicos from the 20-30 foot zone, nothing bit shallower. Tried some deeper structure in 65-85 feet for some nicer quality bass. Water temps are still down, 63.4 to 65.1. Overcast and calm the whole time. I headed in at 1 pm. Final tally was 10 mixed bass, many 3-4 pounds each (50/50 calicos-to-sandies), 1 fat sculpin, 1 short 'but, 1 short ling. All caught on 5-inch Big Hammers on 1-1.5 oz heads with Pro-Cure dabbed on. Best colors were #48 brown grunion and #49 green brownbait with orange belly. The deep fish wanted it presented straight down with a slow vertical wind after deadsticking it for a few seconds. All fish released.
