Klamath trip

I went fishing last weekend, with a few friends, to the Klamath chasing salmon and had a blast. We arrived there on Thursday about 5pm and we were fishing by 5:30. I managed to stick one at about 6pm that went about 12 lbs, so that was the first fish that went into the cooler. I hooked a few more but they were able to get off, it was ok because the bag limit was one per day. We called it at dark and went back to camp.

Friday
We had an evening guide trip on Friday but we went fishing to have some fun. We were on the water by 7:30 and by 7:35 I had my first fish on. It was about 10 lbs so I decided to let it go because I was sure I could get some bigger fish in the guide trip. I hooked a few more during the day but they all shook off. We met our guides at 3:00 and started the drift down the river. I had the first fish in the boat by 3:15 but it was between 8-10 lbs, to small so I let it go. We drift down to the next hole and I get another on that went about 15 lbs, but it was a buck, dark and well beaten up so I let that one go also. We missed a few more fish and then the bite shut down. It was getting late and we stated the next two fish in the boat would be kept. The first one I got was a hen in the 10 lb range and in the cooler she went. My friend in the boat was missing or loosing all of his fish and getting a bit discouraged. About 6:30 I nail another one better size fish about 20 lbs, so that was #2 and in the cooler he went. We had our limit it was getting dark and the day was done.

Saturday
Slept in a bit and hit the water about 8:30 and fished until 10:30 with no takers. It was getting hot so decided to head back to camp. Went to the trap range in the afternoon and got 17 out of 25, not bad since the last time I shot was in 1988. Well we hit the water at 5:30 and fished until dark. My friends had there limits from earlier in the morning so I was the only one missing my fish for the day, just about 6:45 in get my fish for the day. (See attached picture the second picture is my buddy Kevin fish)

Sunday
We were up by 7am and on the water by 7:30, my buddy hooked up but the fish got off. About 8:00 I hood up and land about a 10 lber, that was very dark and beaten up so I decided not to keep that one. No more fish for me but my buddy nailed a nice Rainbow that I hear was quite tasty. We fished until about 9:30 and called it done, it was a great trip but it was over.

Now this is what I caught all of my shore fish on:

Lure: Panther Martin / Blue Fox with gold blade
Rod: 6’ medium/heavy action Okuma Solaris
Reel: Okuma Epix 20
Line: Sufix Tritanium 10 Lb test
