#5336, "What is a good SoCal Landing?"

Does anybody have any suggestions on a good 1/2 day boat to take the wife and son on? I'll go anywhere from Santa monica to Dana Wharf. I went on the Patriot out of Newport Landing on Sunday. It was a good trip, and I would recommend them. I'd like to try something different this weekend.
Thanks NoTrollMotor

The Thunderbird is pretty good out of Marina Del Rey Sportfishing. They've been handling the 1/2 days lately. I always seem to have good days outta there, but their counts have been kinda down the last few times I've checked.

I had a good day the last time I went on the Southern Cal outta Pierpoint as well.

Ya, helmut hit it right on the button. Can't beat Pierpoint and the Southern Cal for experience and putting you on fish. CONSISTANTLY! Also, Belmont Shore in Alamitos Bay usually puts up good numbers on a consistant basis. Long time skipper on their 1/2 day boat and he knows the spots to put you on fish. Either is a good choice but in my opinion, can't go wrong with Pierpoint and the Southern Cal. JMO. Good luck and let me know how the bite was. I'd like to take my kids out soon.

The so cal kills more fish! Used to work on the boat and have always had the best success with them. Good skipper (Arnie puts you on them) and great crew. Not to mention the landing is one of the nicest on the coast. You can't beat finishing up your day fishing drinking a cold one at the Yardhouse or Tequila Jacks.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't get out this weekend.

I bought 2 combos on Thursday, so I didn't want to push my luck with the wife. Penn 112h/Californian665 for 80 bucks at Turners. I'm certainly not the expert on this board, but they seem to be a great deal. I went back on Saturday and bought one for the wife. That made her happier. I'm a lucky man!

Anyway, I'll try to go out on something out of Pierpoint this weekend. I'll be sure and post a report.
