#10293, "fishing the "slide""

thinking about hitting up seaforth for an albacore trip this coming week and was wondering if the members on this board can give a few pointers on fishing the slide for albacore. i did a little research on it on the big hammer website. is that all there is to it? i just wanted to make sure i knew the proper ettiquette before attempting to do something that might piss off fellow anglers.

As far as I can tell the big hammer site has it exactly right. Just get your lure out in the water as quick as possible after a jig strike. Dont give up if you dont pick one up on the first stop, just keep trying and you'll get one.

Yep, good article on the big hammer site. Key to success is being first in the water, as soon as you hear the troll rod go off. I like to freespool back to the jigs as soon as the troll rod gets bit, then engage the reel when the boat slows down to the proper speed and just let the swimbait drag until the boat stops. If the bite is mostly troll fish, try a heavier leadhead like 2 or 3 ounces.
