#8435, "Seal Beach Tubin Report"

A friend and I went to Seal Beach this afternoon to do a little tube fishing. We stopped at Big Fish Tackle and picked up some live smelt. We got a late start and were in the water about 3:45pm. In the first 15 minutes I got my first bite. It didn't fight very hard... until it saw my big fins kicking in its face. Then it took off for a few nice runs. I landed 6.5 lb. 25 in. halibut. I almost lost him getting him on the stringer but frantically reached for the loose end and tied him off. I didn't catch another fish the rest of the evening. My buddy landed 3 short flattys and two yellow fin croaker. He lost a couple nice fish but we never saw color, so they are just fish stories. It was a windy afternoon with very choppy water. It got dark at 5:30 and the bite was over. I'll post a picture of the legal butt when the film is developed.

Tight lines,

Terry G.
