Some buddies and I fished the North end of Ventura today. I would have to say we did alright.<BR>I caught a 1 3/4 lbs. barred perch and one more that was slightly smaller on a small motor oil grub. I was fishing my trout rod with 6 lbs. test so it was pretty fun. One of my buddies caught 5 more perch,a cabezon, and best of all he pulled a 3 lbs. opal eye out of the rocks. It was pretty cool. We got there late and it got slow after the tide started to drop. But we talked to some other people fishing the same spot and they had about 20 perch and farmed a legal halibut right at the finger tips. Better luck next time.
About 1 mile south of Arco Island. It is a small rocky point. There is a cut hole in the fence, on the off ramp(if your heading south bound on the 101). I believe it is Shell exit, but I could be wrong.
I know where you are talking about the fishing there is good, but how did you get the fish up on those rocks, or were you in front of the houses during low tide. I have fished that area for Corbina during the summer months at low tide. I use a 8.5 ft. fly rod with 6# P line the orignal P line it is light blue. with a dia. the same size as 4# Strend. I use a shimano with the fighting drag. set at 2# no.10 wire hook eye less.
