October 5, 2000 - Day 6

Day one of the tournament,  third flight, due in at 3:30pm.  Weather is still in the mid 30s and this morning is really brisk.  Justin tells me he wants to fish flukes in the Yakima delta.  Okay, I think, I can throw flukes.great.  Well let me tell you, Justin had over 14lbs in the boat, I hadn't got bit.  He was absolutely dead-sticking his fluke, on a spinning rod in the current.  He really kicked my butt!  I couldn't buy a bite, doing everything I could to imitate Justin.  He was on!  He had a smallie close to 5!  The bite shut-off as quick as it began.  I spent most of the day running the boat, trying to pick up one straggler.  Finally, at the end of the day, Justin moved us to a new spot just down river.  I picked up a 1lb 10oz smallie on a darthead worm in the current.  I'll tell you what, I was really glad to at least have one fish to bring to the scales.

The weigh-in was fabulous.  Fish Fishburne doing the emceeing.  I was so giddy on the stage, smiling and laughing talking to Fish.  Justin was the center of attention with his bag of fish.  Local media, BASS, and the like interviewed him.  I was really stoked for him.He handled himself very well all day, and was on fish no one else could catch.

Cameron, only had one fish too.  He was fishing the Yakima delta and saw my partner stroking them.  I managed to get these shots of him at weigh-in.
