Too bad you live so far away. Not really worth the 2 1/2 hr drive to fish a pond you can almost cast across. I've never fished Castaic. I've really only fished freshwater for the last 7 weeks, all in the pond(s) I hit. I was in a float tube tournament at Sutherland back in sept. But, that was it for the 15 years or so. I might hit Sutherland next week, if I can find the time to get away.
Perhaps we could meet at Castaic sometime. I mostly have to fish week days, how about you?
