#9887, "laguna surf 6/4"

Checked out a couple beaches this morning. Glassy, overcast with light drizzle. Bass bite was slow with only one sandy that was living in the rocks. Got it on a 5 inch big hammer in fongfish color. Several other bites but no hook ups. Water was a tad calm, wish it was stirred up more. Saw a couple guys doing well on large perch using mussels. Tons of sandcrabs everywhere--good hook bait size. Too bad I left the perching gear at home. Found a lone baby jack smelt stranded in a sandy pool--lucky for it I didn't have a live bait hook, lol. I was able to round it up and release it so it wouldn't fry as the sun got higher.
